Tricia works as a mosaic artist from her studio in the grounds of her home in a small village in the heart of Wales. To share her passion, enthusiasm and skill in this fascinating medium she runs mosaic art courses from her studio, and offers home from home accommodation to students in her rambling and beautiful Edwardian country house.
Public and private mosaic commissions are accepted. Tricia’s mosaics, as collaborative works with schools, County Councils and community groups and as bespoke mosaics may be viewed in public spaces throughout North East Wales, Isle of Anglesey and in Liverpool.
Over the past few years Tricia has completed Masterclasses in Byzantine and Roman mosaics in Ravenna, Italy the centre of the Byzantine mosaic world where, using the same amazing and beautiful Italian smalti of the Byzantine mosaic masters, she has learnt their traditional skills as practised nearly 2,000 years ago. Studying the form and design of the original 5th and 6th century mosaics still in pristine condition in the basilicas and mausoleums of Ravenna, Tricia came away informed, awe inspired and even more passionate about this ancient art form.
Tricia’s particular interest lies in the adaptability for mosaic as a vehicle to recycle waste materials such as ceramic, pottery, glass etc. and a large percentage of the materials in her mosaic projects are recycled. As one of her students recently commented "it is a message particularly appropriate to our times that a thing of long lasting beauty and universal appeal can be made out of a broken tile or chipped and discarded item of crockery."
Each one of Tricia’s mosaics is certain to be completely original and unique.
